前週末3日の米国市場は、グッドフライデー（聖金曜日）の祝日で休場だった。本日の日経平均は続伸でスタートした。その後は買い優勢の展開が続いて、寄り付き後も上げ幅を広げる展開となった。後場からは上値の重い展開となり、やや上げ幅を縮小する動きがみられた。トランプ大統領はSNSに「火曜日、東部時間午後8時」と投稿しており、停戦交渉がまとまらなければ日本時間で8日午前9時に攻撃を行うとみられている。その一方、米メディアのインタビューで「合意が成立する可能性が高い」とも発言していると伝わっている他、商船三井系のタンカーがホルムズ海峡を通過したことが伝わるなど、不透明感は残りつつもやや先行き期待が先行した。ただ、積極的に買い進む動きは限定的で、後場以降は上値の重い展開となった。
大引けの日経平均は前営業日比290.19円高の53413.68円となった。東証プライム市場の売買高は16億5111万株、売買代金は5兆2740億円だった。業種別では、海運業、非鉄金属、精密機器などが上昇した一方で、鉱業、電気・ガス業、空運業などが下落した。東証プライム市場の値上がり銘柄は60.1％、対して値下がり銘柄は35.5％となっている。
