後場の日経平均は前営業日比469.22円高の53592.71円と前引け値（54001.64円）から上げ幅を縮めて取引を開始した。ランチタイムの日経225先物は、急速に上げ幅を縮める推移。前場の日経平均は、朝方の買いが一巡後に伸び悩む場面もあったが、再度上げ幅を広げる強い展開だった。米ニュースサイトのアクシオスの一部報道が手掛かりとなったとの見方も。後場寄り付き時点の日経平均は引き続き買い優勢でスタート。ランチタイムの先物の動きを映して、前引けから上げ幅を縮めているが、その後は持ち直す動きに。
