前日26日の米国株式市場は反発となった。トランプ米大統領がFRB理事クック氏解任を表明し、FRBの独立性への懸念が広がったものの、耐久財受注や消費者信頼感指数が堅調だったことで相場を支えた。結果として主要指数はそろって上昇、前日の下落を払拭したとの見方が広がった。米株式市場の動向を横目に、日経平均は寄付きから81.69円高で始まったが、朝方はマイナス圏に転落する場面が見られた。その後、前日終値付近でもみ合ったが、前引けにかけて上げ幅を広げ、後場以降はプラス圏で堅調推移となった。円相場が1ドル＝147円半ばで推移したことが輸出関連に支援要因として作用した。また、市場では米エヌビディアの決算発表を控えて一部の半導体関連株には先回り買いも入った。ただ、利益確定や戻り待ちの売りに押される銘柄も多く、上げ幅は限定的となった。
大引けの日経平均は前日比125.87円高の42520.27円となった。東証プライム市場の売買高は18億5463万株、売買代金は4兆1890億円だった。業種別では、電気・ガス業、空運業、非鉄金属が上昇した一方で、保険業、その他製品、ゴム製品などは下落した。東証プライム市場の値上がり銘柄は45.7％、対して値下がり銘柄は48.9％となっている。
