7月14日の日経平均は前営業日比153.58円安の39416.10円と3営業日続落でスタート。11日の米国市場でダウ平均は279.13ドル安の44371.51ドル、ナスダックは45.13ポイント安の20585.53で取引を終了。トランプ政権がカナダに35％関税率を通知、関税策による経済やインフレへの影響が懸念され、寄り付き後、下落。シカゴ連銀のグールズビー総裁が新たな関税の脅威が利下げを遅らせかねないと言及、インフレ長期化で連邦準備制度理事会（FRB）の早期利下げ期待も後退し、終日軟調に推移した。シカゴ日経225先物は大阪比5円安の39505円。本日の日経平均は売りが先行。トランプ大統領は12日、EU（欧州連合）とメキシコからの輸入品に、8月1日から30％の関税を課すと自身のSNSに投稿した。一方、EUは報復発動を8月上旬に延長する意向を示しており、引き続き交渉が継続するとみられる。関税を巡る世界的な先行き不透明感から手掛けにくさが意識されている。
