17日前引け時点の日経平均構成銘柄の騰落数は、値上がり34銘柄、値下がり188銘柄、変わらず3銘柄となった。
日経平均は大幅反落。387.76円安の26703.00円（出来高概算5億4463万株）で前場の取引を終えている。前週末14日の米株式市場のNYダウは403.89ドル安（-1.34%）と大幅反落。10月ミシガン大消費者信頼感指数や同指数の期待インフレ率が予想を上回ると連邦準備制度理事会（FRB）の大幅利上げ観測がさらに強まった。長期金利上昇とともに売りが再燃、週末でポジションを手仕舞う売りも散見され、引けにかけ下げ幅を拡大した。ナスダックも3.08%安と大幅に反落、主要株価指数がそろって下落した米株市場を受けて、日経平均は前週末比305.74円安の26785.02円と大幅反落でスタート。その後は、軟調もみ合い展開となっている。
